A Big Research of the Graphics Card Market in Ukrainian Online Stores
2022 was not the best year for Ukrainian retail due to the russian invasion and the global crisis caused by this war. At Pricer24, we decided to analyze the state of the graphics card market nowadays, given the fact that graphic card prices have risen in early 2022 due to mining.
Pricer24 is a cloud-based market analytics platform that helps you find insights in a changing market environment. Large online stores and marketplaces like Rozetka, Comfy, Philips, ASUS, HyperX, Gigabyte, MSI, TP-Link, and many others have already become Pricer24 clients.
We prepared this article in October for publication in November, but unfortunately, due to blackouts and other factors, we were forced to postpone the publication. But now we have finally prepared and translated the article. By the way, you can find the original here.
The data was studied up to October 2022, so the new 4000-line from NVIDIA has not yet managed to get into it. We are happy to conduct another study in Q1 2023 to see how the 4000 series has affected market distribution.
Popularity Analysis Methodology
The most interesting thing for us was to find out which graphics cards and this category segment are the most popular in the Ukrainian market. How did we analyze popularity? We entered the graphics card category in each online store and saved the position in which it was sorted by popularity.
Next, we took the top 20% of the most popular graphics cards on the website and, depending on their position, provided them with points. The higher the position, the higher the score. Graphics cards on the most popular websites (Hotline, Rozetka, Telemart, and Brain) received twice as many points as on others. The last thing we did, since during the analysis different segments had a different number of items, was to normalize the data additionally.
Of course, online stores can “promote” their products and raise them higher in the search results, but since we considered the whole market, this effect is leveled.

The most popular segments are $400–600 and $200–400, and the least popular is $1000+.

Users are most interested in graphic cards with GeForce RTX 3060 and GeForce RTX 3050 chipsets in the $400–600 segment and Radeon RX 6600 and GeForce GTX 1660 in the $200–400 segment.

Popular Chipsets
The most popular chipset in the country is the GeForce RTX 3060, which has both the largest number of offers on the market and the highest rankings in search results on websites. Generally, NVIDIA chipsets are more popular than AMD’s. Only two of their chipsets got into the top 10: the Radeon RX 6600 and the Radeon RX 550.

Popular Brands
The two most popular brands in Ukraine are ASUS and Gigabyte. Quite foreseeable, right? The only difference is that ASUS is more popular in NVIDIA chipsets while Gigabyte is in AMD. MSI entered the top 3, which is to be expected.

Popularity by memory capacity
Some chipsets have multiple memory options. And we couldn’t figure out why some of them are clearly more popular with less memory storage while others are the opposite. But then we realized that those chipsets required for mining have less memory, while chips for games have more.
Most Popular Items
We have been trying to find the right methodology to identify the most popular products for a long time. The thing is that statistical methods are no longer suitable here. Therefore, we decided to simply calculate the median position across all online stores. The lower the number, the more popular the item.

Price history
The last thing we decided to analyze was how prices for the most popular chipsets changed on the market this year. The analysis was provided in US dollars.
It is obvious that during this year, graphics cards have significantly fallen in price by an average of 2–2.5 times. In some separate periods, as, for example, in July, graphics cards went up in price, but then the fall began again. After September, the price drop ended, and perhaps by the time new chipsets enter the market, they will not change much. So now is probably a good time to buy yourself a new graphics card.
Conclusions
Despite the war, the market is quite diverse; there are many offers, and their number is growing. After the end of the mining boom, prices began to return to normal and are almost no longer speculative.
